Robert Brindley R.S.M.A

Born in Burton on Trent, Robert moved to Scotby from Whitby, in January 2019 and has been a professional painter since 1992.

Working in Watercolour, Oil, and Pastel, Robert’s inspiration is the challenge of capturing light and atmosphere in a contemporary impressionistic style.

He paints, mainly landscape and coastal scenery both in the UK and on his trips abroad. He has a special affection for Venice visiting the city every year.

In 1997 Robert was elected a member Royal Society of Marine Artists and is the current archivist for the Society.

Robert has always encouraged people to paint and has run workshops in the UK and abroad,

together with demonstrations for art societies for over 30 years.

He has written three instructional books on how to paint, published by Crowood Press and also has four DVDs on how to paint in watercolours and oils, produced by Townhouse Films.

Robert is a regular contributor to “The Artist” magazine and his work has also been featured in many books and publications, including: “How to paint Watercolour Landscapes”, “Pratique Des Artist”, “The International Artist”, Paint and Draw”, Artist & Illustrator, Yorkshire Life and “The Dalesman”.
