Gillian studied Fine Art at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, specializing in Sculpture and Conceptual art, graduating in 1999 with a Ba(Hons) degree in Fine Art.
My work was heavily focused on the marks we leave in time and centered mainly on the human experience, however my love of animals and nature now inspires and drives my work.

MELANIE HOPWOOD CERAMICS
Melanie’s ceramic sculptures and jewellery stem from an interest in geological features and rugged, weathered landscape and coastline, particularly of Northern England and Scotland.
Rockpool Boulders emerged from a collaborative project between Melanie and writer Sue Spencer who wrote a number of ‘haiku’ poems in response to the ideas behind Melanie’s boulder forms. Metal letterpress is used to imprint the words into the surface of each piece. Melanie now also incorporates some of her own haiku into her work.
